11/6/12

1. W.U. Cellular Respiration Self Quiz #2 (1. Write out the chemical equation for cellular respiration?  2. List the 3 steps of cellular respiration?  3.  Next to the steps in question 2, write down where in the cell each step takes place.  4. Draw and label a picture of the organelle where most of cellular respiration takes place.  5.Why is comparing cellular respiration to a burning marshmallow a poor analogy??)
2. Notes: Glycolysis

H.W. Cellular Respiration Review Questions Part II: (Answer all questions, but make sure you use complete sentences to answer questions 1, 2, and 3)
1. What are the reactants of cellular respiration?
2. What are the products of cellular respiration?
3. What is the function of NADH and FADH2?
4. Without looking at your notes list the steps of glycolysis using arrows showing everything that goes into and leaves this process. If you must look at your notes.. do so after you try without your notes first.  Then don’t go to sleep tonight until you can do this without your notes.

AND
Finish side 3 of your Cellular Respiration and Photosynthesis Informational Pamphlet/Brochure (make it look nice!!)

11/5/12

1. W.U. Cellular Respiration Self Quiz #1
2.  Notes:  Cellular respiration: the big picture and why are there so many steps??

H.W.    Cellular Respiration Review Questions I (answer all questions but make sure that q’s 3-6 are in complete sentences)  DUE TUESDAY 11/6
1. Draw a diagram that illustrates how organisms that are photosynthetic and organisms that respire are related. (hint: “you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours”). Include all molecules and forms of energy involved. Label the heterotroph and autotroph in your picture.
2. Draw and label (full and abbreviated name) the energy currency for the cell?
3.  Explain how this energy currency powers cellular work?
4. What 3 types of cellular work does the energy currency of the cell participate in?
5. What is the function of cellular respiration?
6. What is the chemical equation for cellular respiration? Write this equation down as many times as you need in order to memorize it.  In other words don’t go to sleep tonight until this equation is memorized.

Also, start working on your Cellular Respiration and Photosynthesis Informational Pamphlet/Brochure (work on Side 1 and Side 3).  Side 3 is due on Wednesday.

11/2/12

1. W.U. Read, summarize and hypothesize Ch. 9's Chapter Mystery (p. 249):  do this directly on your notes
2. Notes:  The Big Idea, Why ATP and Cellular Respiration (an overview)

H.W. Start working on your Cellular Respiration and Photosynthesis Informational Pamphlet/Brochure (work on Side 1 and Side 3).  You should have side 3 completed by Tuesday.
